FAQ

How do I know if I need a bed bug detection dog?

If you have traveled lately, purchased new or used furniture see black spots high on your walls, or possibly see bugs, you might need a bed bug detection dog.

A single bed bug female can lay from 50 to 500 eggs a month.

In police work, German Shepherds and Belgian Malinois are used. For detecting bed bugs, we use dogs with what we call high hunt drive.

It depends on what is to be searched. A house or apartment we charge by the square foot. If several apartments are to be searched, the more we search, the cheaper it gets. Outside of Dane County could result in a mileage fee.

The length of time a dog can search depends on the weather. In hot humid conditions dogs wear out faster, than in cooler less humid conditions. If the dog has many finds they tend to stay engaged longer. If the dog is not finding anything they tend to become less disinterested.

We feel working or detecting bed bugs, then exterminating them is a conflict of interest. We know and work with a large group of exterminators that we can refer if asked. We simply locate or confirm the presence of bed bugs, or lack of bed bugs and go on our way. We don’t try to sell you future business, or try to scare you into completing a treatment. We complete our business and go on our way.
